چکیده

Measuring expectation values of observables is an essential ingredient in variational quantum algorithms. A practical obstacle the necessity a large number measurements for statistical convergence to meet requirements precision, such as chemical accuracy application chemistry computations. Here we propose algorithm estimate value based on its approximate expression weighted sum classically-tractable matrix elements with some modulation, where weight and modulation factors are evaluated by sampling appropriately prepared states computational basis computers. Each those applying unitary transformation consisting at most N CNOT gates, qubits, target state whose evaluated. Our expected require fewer than conventional methods required precision when concentrated particular states. We provide numerical comparisons our method existing ones measuring electronic ground energies (expectation Hamiltonians lowest-energy states) various small molecules. Numerical results show that can reduce numbers obtain targeted several orders magnitudes molecules concentrated. another route measure observables, which could accelerate

Quantum computational gradient estimation

The vector gradient of a real-valued function f of a vector argument can be calculated using just two calls to a black-box quantum oracle for f . The mechanism is simple, and capitalises on the fact that, in the vicinity of a point x, e2πiλf(x) is periodic, with period parallel and inversely proportional to ∇f(x). A superposed state is created discretising a small hyperrectangle around the doma...

Shortening Grover’s Search Algorithm for an Expectation Value Quantum Computer

Quantum algorithms are conventionally formulated for implementation on a single system of qubits amenable to projective measurements. However, in expectation value quantum computation, such as nuclear magnetic resonance realizations, the computer consists of an ensemble of identical qubit-systems amenable only to expectation value measurements. The prevalent strategy in such expectation value i...

Computational Performance of Quantum Phase Estimation Algorithm

A quantum computation problem is discussed in this paper. Many new features that make quantum computation superior to classical computation can be attributed to quantum coherence effect, which depends on the phase of quantum coherent state. Quantum Fourier transform algorithm, the most commonly used algorithm, is introduced. And one of its most important applications, phase estimation of quantu...

Query Estimation by Adaptive Sampling

The ability to provide accurate and efficient result estimations of user queries is very important for the query optimizer in database systems. In this paper, we show that the traditional estimation techniques with data reduction points of view do not produce satisfiable estimation results if the query patterns are dynamically changing. We further show that to reduce query estimation error, ins...

Parameter estimation by implicit sampling

Implicit sampling is a weighted sampling method that is used in data assimilation, where one sequentially updates estimates of the state of a stochastic model based on a stream of noisy or incomplete data. Here we describe how to use implicit sampling in parameter estimation problems, where the goal is to find parameters of a numerical model, e.g. a partial differential equation (PDE), such tha...
